PROJECT / 07Marketplace simulation

GlobalCart

In development · v0.2.3-dev / M09.6

A commerce-grade marketplace simulation with a local catalog, product detail pages, multi-image galleries, search, and a demo cart. It does not process real sales, payments, inventory reservations, or shipments.

01 /The challenge

A convincing storefront is more than product cards: search, categories, detail pages, image galleries, and cart behavior must work alongside performance and transparent data sourcing.

02 /Approach

A marketplace simulation built with Next.js and React uses a local catalog snapshot, self-hosted imagery, and decimal-safe pricing logic. It supports Persian RTL and English LTR.

03 /Role & attribution

The README identifies Pooya as owner and product engineer.

04 /Technical architecture

The Next.js 15/React 19/TypeScript frontend is static on Pages. Two catalog paths are distinct: a local 1,000-item ABO snapshot with self-hosted WebP galleries, and runtime discovery through Shopify Global Catalog via a constrained no-store Worker that does not persist results/images. Go REST/OpenAPI and PostgreSQL 17 with migrations/sqlc support local development/CI, not hosted production.

Two catalog sources and a demo cart
The local snapshot and runtime discovery are separate; Shopify results are not cached and the cart is simulated
05 /Implementation details
  • 01Category mega-menu, search, filters, sort, quick view, favorites, recently viewed, and comparison for up to four products.
  • 02Static product detail pages and multi-image galleries with thumbnails and previous/next controls.
  • 03For ABO, absent sale-price/rating/stock fields remain unavailable; no fabricated values.
  • 04For Shopify, seller name, listing URL, and seller-provided price/availability remain visible.
  • 05Cart, checkout, orders, and returns/refunds are simulated or local only.
  • 06Decimal-safe pricing and TGJU USD rate normalized from Rial to Toman with freshness labels.
  • 07Local Go/PostgreSQL backend foundation with 27 tables, OpenAPI, and sqlc; current public APIs are read-only.
06 /Engineering decisions
  • 01No real payment, order, inventory reservation, or fulfillment is performed; cart and checkout are simulations.
  • 02The ABO snapshot is attributed under CC BY 4.0; absent fields are not invented.
  • 03Shopify discovery follows no-cache/no-rehost rules; seller identity and listing links remain visible.
  • 04Automatic translation is paused; new feeds require rights, terms, quality, and freshness review.
  • 05Go/PostgreSQL remains local/CI; no hosted production API is claimed.
07 /Verification & evidence
  • 01The README reports v0.2.3-dev and M09.6; v1.0.0 is blocked by owner approval and manual QA.
  • 02Lighthouse lab run 42054988939 and Shopify Catalog Smoke run 42054988648 passed on current HEAD; lab scores are not field Core Web Vitals.
  • 03Browser E2E run 42054626880 was still in progress on the prior commit when reviewed; Pages run 42054627186 deployed that prior commit.
  • 04Manual screen reader, physical-device, human RTL/LTR, and field-network QA remain release gates.
09 /Capabilities & highlights
  • 01Local 1,000-item catalog with static product detail routes
  • 02Multi-image galleries with thumbnail and previous/next controls
  • 03Search, filters, sorting, comparison, and favorites
  • 04Storefront shell loads independently from images with lazy loading
  • 05Bilingual case study with architecture and ERD
10 /Scope & boundaries

This is a marketplace simulation, not a live retailer. It does not process payments, real inventory reservations, shipping, seller payouts, or refunds. Version 0.2.3 still requires manual QA before a 1.0 release.
